This is for a commuter car that normally only drives to and from work. Braking was great initially, I was impressed for the money. But around 20km they started screeching every time I stopped. I mean the guy who makes people put their hands over their ears at crosswalks. The car's factory brakes lasted 60,000, so I wasn't expecting to change them so soon. I looked at the pads and they were badly worn but looked like they should have had life. I cleaned everything with brake cleaner and put on the pads. Still screaming. So I bought new pads and installed them. still screaming It doesn't sound like a warped rotor screech, it's a steady, resonant noise at the speed I'm coasting to. If I apply the brake lightly or apply it harder, it doesn't squeak when it stops. Not sure what's wrong here, but I'll just take them off and put some of the original rotors back in.
