Not for Deep Freeze
I bought this to use in my freezer. I thought it would be great to get an alert when the temperature starts to rise and check the humidity to control ice formation. The description says it is suitable for freezer use and meets temperature standards. Imagine my surprise when I read the instructions and find out that metal blocks the Bluetooth signal. All freezers are manufactured with metal cladding. I taped the sensor to a plastic basket in the freezer and turned it upside down (apparently there is an antenna on top of the sensor) hoping that somehow it would still work through the lid. It doesn't and I still have to go and open the door for an upgrade. I could spend $2 on an old-fashioned thermometer at Walmart.
- Only use the sensor and phone via Bluetooth or add a gateway (This link does not include a gateway. You must purchase a separate gateway to use alarm functions on other channels.) for data and alerts via the web .
