A platform you can't trust

You might think that packet distribution is the most important A router's job, but in the modern world it decides whether the packet should be routed at all. This device cannot do that. This is a known issue and has existed for many years. Netgear technical support cannot say when the issue will be resolved. Problem: Devices can be connected to the router, get full internet service, but never appear in the "Connected Devices" lists and nowhere in the logs. This is a bigger problem than it might appear at first glance. Would you like to set up address reservations? Better roll the dice and hope your router sees the device you want to assign a specific IP address to. port forwarding? It's on the menu but you want it. He now sees 12 of the 19 devices I have connected now. Rebooting the router gives a different list, but it never produced a complete list of devices. Factory resetting the router (and satellite) doesn't help and I'm using the latest firmware. TL;DR These devices provide a very strong radio signal. If that's the only thing you want, then you're done. If you need other features, don't count on it.

Pros
  • Tri-Band Transport Link: Dedicated band between Orbi router and satellite frees up the other two bands to provide maximum speed for your devices
Cons
  • Waiting too long
