MY CAR: 2016 Toyota Tundra 5.7L V8 CrewMax First off I have to say that you can save money by not paying close to $400 for CAI from other competitors. I chose the Specter because it's worth it and it's affordable. I used to press the tow/haul button on my Tundra to add a little bit of torque, although it was meant to be used when loading to allow the transmission to downshift its gears for easier rigging and hauling. I know, I know, gas mileage depends entirely on driving on roads and highways that are mostly flat. Now back to this CAI - after my installation I drove it around my neighborhood and noticed that no tow/haul button was required. Like he's breathing better. I can't wait to test it on the Autobahn. INSTALLATION: I gave it 4 stars because of the difficulty of screwing in a specific area near the truck firewall to protect the heat shield. I would have to literally lay on top of the engine from right to left (head facing the passenger side near the horn). Note that the audio signal did not interfere at all. I skipped bolting the heat shield to this area - the bolt at the base of the washer fluid reservoir and the mounting stud retainer hold everything in place nicely. I had a little trouble placing the MAF sensor in the aluminum intake manifold as the plastic was blocking part of the space where the sensor comes out - I had to be careful to insert it without damaging the sensor. Although the manual clearly states that a MAF sensor should be connected to the aluminum intake manifold to avoid the "Check Engine" light coming on, I still have the "Check Engine" warning light disabled along with traction control. . I don't know how other settings could differ from others. This was just my experience. I used my Mini Actron diagnostic scanner and got a P0101 trouble code for a fault with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. I deleted the code before the trip and it didn't show up again. Traction control also stopped saying it was off. Just be sure to leave all bolts (used to attach the heat shield) and all clamps tight but loose to maneuver the aluminum pickup tubes for final positioning. My do-it-yourselfers, take your time. Intake: I ordered an intake, it comes with a red filter. I also ordered a white filter intake manifold to complement my Silver Sky Tundra. In this review I can only talk about the 5.7 liter V8 model.
