I kept the bowl in the freezer for 48 hours before trying it for the first time. I used a mixture of coconut and almond milk plus a few other ingredients and blended for 10 minutes. The liquid showed practically no signs of freezing. I put the bowl in the freezer for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. As a result, the liquid took on the consistency of mush. I think after another 40 minutes I would have something close to the firmness of ice cream. I don't mind that it took significantly longer than expected, but I think I could get the same results with a regular bowl. The 1.5 liter ice maker costs less than $10 more. This is a REAL ice cream maker that works great.
