I bought this device to switch a keyboard and mouse between two computers (Dell desktop and HP laptop). It seems to work as long as both computers are "awake". But when a computer goes to sleep, even if I disconnect and reconnect all cables, USB, and power cords, that computer can no longer recognize the keyboard or mouse. This never happens when the keyboard and mouse are directly connected to the computer. The only solution I've found in this case is to connect another keyboard and mouse to this computer, or turn off BOTH computers, wait a few minutes, and then turn on only the one that was having problems. Of course, I can't switch between my computers every 5 minutes to make sure they're awake, so this device is useless to me. It seems like it should be that simple, but judging by Revain's comments, none of these device types work properly for everyone. I assume they are all using the same faulty hardware internally or something. Too bad it would be nice not to have 2 keyboards and 2 mice.
