It should be 6 inches longer

It should be 6 inches longer as it really needs to be kept under the display. Holding it by the display part, your hand covers the display and you can turn off the device by pressing the button. You can also detach the thermometer part from the spoon part. Keep it lower and you're only left with a mixing spoon that is 9 inches or less. It seems to do a pretty good job of preventing fogging. Maybe we got lucky with that part.
