Ok so first off you should know that I'm definitely a white noise snob/aficionado. I can't sleep without out it, and if my ear finds even the slightest "seam" or repetition in the sound, it's game over. My brain will just latch on to the loop or the repetitive fan click or the AC rattle or whatever it is and won't let go. The older I get, the harder it becomes to get a solid nights sleep!At home, I use the DOHM sound machine which is the big brother product of this travel size machine. It has an actual fan in it and is the BEST! I swear by it and recommend it to everyone. That being said, it is definitely not portable. I recently just got back from a trip to Peru and wanted something that would get me through sleeping in a tent while hiking the Inca trail, the snores of my hotel room companions and the sounds of the Peruvian Revain jungle while sleeping in a literal treehouse in the middle of the rainforest.This little wonder checked all the boxes and then some! It was an absolute miracle on my trip and helped me get amazing sleep in spite of crazy environments.First of all, I've tried so many white noise apps on my phone and some of them are decent I will admit, but there are problems with using an app. First of all it drains phone battery while running in the background all night. Second, it means you can't listen to anything else (sometimes I like to fall asleep to a podcast or music on a timer). Third, most white noise apps have a digital "seam" that my ear always finds eventually.SO, it really was worth every penny to have this separate tiny portable white noise machine to do its thing so my phone could do other things. The sound, while also a digital recording, is the best white (I actually like the brown) noise I have ever heard that isn't created by an actual fan. It's very close to what my big brother machine pumps out at home. NO SEAM. The volume controls are perfect, it's simple and idiot proof to use, it's lightweight and super easy to pack and the charge lasts all night for multiple nights!I can't stress how big of a deal it is that I chose to pack this on the Inca trail when we were SO limited to what we can carry. Others in my group had trouble sleeping because they kept getting disturbed by Alpaca and horse hooves and other sounds outside the tent at night, but I slept like a baby!I will take this with me everywhere I travel from now on, even if it's just for one night!
