Our kitchen cabinet with trash bins would not stay closed and would roll open about a inch after closing it. I needed a thin, strong magnet for this application and this product fit the need exactly. The cabinet door was secured with a steel frame so I only needed the magnet piece, not the steel plate that comes in the package. I attached the magnets with the included screws to each side of the cabinet body so they would contact the frame on the door. The door now stays closed even if we shove it closed from the open position and yet the magnets are not too strong as to hinder opening.
