If you are concerned about the quality of the drinking water entering your home, the HM AP-1 Digital TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) meter is an excellent budget solution. The AP-1 is an evolution of the entry-level TMZ series, but offers three additional features at a small price difference, the most important of which is water resistance (important for a device that will be regularly submerged in water). Two other upgrades are the water temperature gauge and a magnetic case that allows it to be conveniently attached to the fridge door. A nice feature is that if you forget to turn it off, the device will turn itself off after ten minutes. The device responds quickly with accurate readings. My incoming water readings were good, but checking the two water filters only showed a 3-5 point difference, which was revealing. All in all a great low cost solution if you are interested in this data.
