A small fireplace is cool!

I bought a fireplace in our bedroom so I wouldn't turn on the heat upstairs. That works great! Heats up an entire room in minutes. It has temperature control and the heating will turn off once the selected temperature is reached. You can also choose "Flame" without heat. It also has an auto shut off if it overheats or tips over (it's very durable so I don't know how it can tip over).
