I used it to install a Garmin 742 chartplotter on a sailboat. The round base connects unchanged to the RAM swivel mount that I already installed and used on my old fish finder that I was looking to replace. The square base fits my new chartplotter without drilling any holes. This device again allows me to hide the GPS in a corner in the cabin when I'm in port. To swim, I release the grip and raise the GPS for best cockpit view with the RAM arm outstretched. This whole setup only takes a few seconds. It could hardly be more perfect for my needs. And of course, the quality of RAM is a given.
