The bracket is too thick, so you need to disassemble the lamp.
Bracket too thick to fit into existing recesses in canopy. As a result, we had to disassemble the flashlight in order to insert it into the slots provided. If they made the bracket just a millimeter thinner, that problem would be eliminated.
