Review on ☕️ Hario Ceramic Coffee Mill - 'Mini-Slim Plus': Compact Manual Coffee Grinder for 24g Capacity by Luis Esquivel

Revainrating 3 out of 5

So far so good - coffee, tea and espresso

I found a lot of reviews I was looking for: 1. Good materials (plastic parts seem pretty strong, not cheap standard plastic)2 . Easy to disassemble and maintain/clean3. Provides a relatively consistent grind for a decent cup of coffee4. Grinds 25 g in reasonable time (a few minutes)5. Won't wake up the whole house. It has the benefit of being thin and easy to carry, although that wasn't one of my original intentions when purchasing this product. The grind is more consistent than a blade grinder (even with tricks like shaking the grinder occasionally to redistribute the bean chunks), although it takes a little effort. I work in an office and I definitely don't mind a bit of exercise. In terms of a series of burpees or something similar in intensity, grinding coffee beans with this isn't too bad. It won't be able to convey all of the notes noted on your Signature coffee, but the coffee tastes better than regular ground coffee (all other variables like beans and brewing method remain the same). Some tricks I learned: 1) To stabilize the outer ceramic drill I put rubber bands on top to hold it in place. This helped a lot with the consistency of the grist, although you'll still end up with some fine particles and larger chunks. It won't compete with a good $100+ electric coffee grinder. 2) If like me you have skinny arms and can't just hold the grinder with your hands while grinding, sit down and put it between your legs to keep it steady while you grind. The job becomes much easier and the sanding becomes smoother without the unnecessary movements that occur when trying to hold it still with just your hands. Overall it's good value for money and even if I do decide to switch to an electric grinder at some point, I'll still have it for the days when a manual grinder is needed.

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • I'll write back later
