I ordered this for another purpose and it turned out to be the perfect tool for what I used it for. We live in NH and have a wood stove. The stove is a standard wood stove with two glass/cast iron doors in the front and is wider than it is deep. I have all the standard fireplace tools but they are too long for easy use with the stove. This tool replaces two fireplace tools, a poker and an ash pick. It's the perfect length and has a comfortable handle to hold on to. It doesn't look like black fireplace tools, but it's a lot more useful. I use a rack lifter to turn the logs over in the kiln and part of a hoe to spread out the coals before adding firewood. The hoe is the perfect width to clear the ash pan area. The only downside is that the hoe portion of the tool is welded to the shaft, leaving room for hot coals, so it's recommended to leave it on the stove after use. You should do this with standard fireplace tools anyway. Say hello to the product!
