This product is easy to use and has proven to be effective. The drywall under the wallpaper was not scratched. However, if you have two layers of wallpaper, you will likely need to cut the bottom layer separately. If you have a second layer of wallpaper, don't cut it until it's dry. I used it on the "bottom layer" of wallpaper after using the Simple Strip wallpaper removal system on the top layer (unaware there was more wallpaper underneath). Some of the paste from the top layer got onto the bottom layer and glued the tool together. It took some time to clear it. The only minor downside to this tool is that it doesn't scrape near the corners or edges of the woodwork, but in my case most of those areas were primed underneath so the next scrape was enough to loosen the edges/corners.
