Review on Transform Your Home with the Philips Hue White and Color LED Smart Button Starter Kit by Ruth Hosey

I bought this set for my daughter for Christmas. Bulbs are installed quickly and easily. The bridge is another matter. The documentation says "connect to a wireless router". You don't have to do this explicitly. You just have to connect this thing to the network somehow. Switch, ethernet cable, whatever. I would have figured it out quickly if it wasn't for the next point. No applications connected to the bridge even though it was powered on and connected to the network. Finally, I factory reset the device and everything worked. There is a button on the back and instructions are online. Not mentioned in the documents supplied with the device. So now it's working well, but not before we were about to give up. Note: Lightbulbs can be controlled directly via Bluetooth (no bridge) and we uploaded Hue BT. a Chromebook app for that. Bluetooth performance can be very erratic on many Chromebook models. In our case, we need to restart the Chromebook after turning it off to reconnect. Be careful when following this route. I *think* the bridge bypasses the bluetooth connect step.
