The best welding rods make you a better welder
I'm by no means a professional welder, I only practice at night for about a week with no experience. The weld at the top is a high frequency stick, which I think is sturdier, easier to ignite, and produces a lot less smoke. I use a cheap welder to learn, but based on my brief experience, the pole is important. Listen to the guys who know what they are doing there are better rods out there.
