I had an intermittent leak on a Porsche some time ago. The engine was idling high and running lean. I tried finding the leak by spraying starting fluid, but that only told me I had a leak, not where it was. I ordered this smoke machine on February 1st and it arrived on February 3rd, this was not mainstream delivery. Connected, muffled the intake and the engine smoked. The video I've attached shows smoke coming out of the intake port where the hose clamp isn't fully sealed. This fog machine saved me a lot of trouble. The only problem is that the mineral oil covered most of the air intake so I wiped it off when I was done. I was on the fence about buying it but it helped a lot. I didn't buy a cone adapter, just cut out a piece of styrofoam with a hole and clamped it in the intake manifold, everything worked out great.
