I have been using reverse osmosis systems for my marine aquariums for years but have never bought one for personal use. Recently moved to a brand new house and the water was TERRIBLE, had a TDS of 586. I had to carry bottled water to drink or cook with. I did a little research and settled on this system. It would have been VERY easy to install but I also had a permeate pump which made things really difficult. I had to remove and replace the ASO which required me to replace virtually ALL the tubes. After installation, I ran the system through a tank of water to remove carbon dust and other contaminants, then tested again. My water is now reading 61 TDS. So far I am delighted with the system. I gave it 4 stars because of the tub. While I understand the idea behind it, it just doesn't work in practice. Every time you turn on the faucet, the first glass is TERRIBLE! The longer you switch between applications, the worse it gets. The only thing I can understand is that the water sits in all the minerals and dissolves them making the water very high in mineral content. My highest reading was 896 TDS. I ended up just unplugging that canister and running the system without it. The water still tastes great and the system works great.
