Review on Uniden TCX440 5.8 GHz Accessory πŸ“ž Handset: Enhanced Communication with Color LCD (Silver) by Barbara Majdoch

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good multi handset system, fair only at a distance

I used to have a couple of 900mhz phones but when we moved to a new house I needed a multi handset system that uses the same base station/phone jack . I bought Uniden mainly because after all the discounts I could get 3 phones and a base for $130. The next option with a decent feature set would cost over $200. The 5.8GHz range on this system can't match the 900MHz setup I've had, and it's a bit more demanding on base station placement. Our base station is upstairs in the bedroom and in the basement the signal drops if there are too many metal channels between the base station and the phone, which is a real problem. We have steel panels and the outdoor range is about 100 feet. I'll repeat some other claims about caller ID, but personally it doesn't matter much. The ability to control other handsets or the base comes in handy for use as a baby monitor. I haven't used the USB setup software much, but it should come in handy for "cloning" once I have a handset the way I want it. System. But if not, you can spend more money on another system.
