I run a NT 4.0 server at home (preparing to upgrade to Server 2000) with 4 Win98 workstations, 1 NT 4.0 and 1 Win2000 Pro and a 3-port print server. I used it for about 2 weeks and switched to a full duplex switch. While playing games with my kids or working on small files, it was great. But when it came to handling huge files (capturing gigabytes of FireWire video) or transferring many small files (photo albums), half-duplex was too slow. A full duplex switch which I also upgraded made things a lot faster but cost 3x as much.
