Great pair of genuine leather gloves that won't break the bank

I bought these to replace my entry level Everlast faux leather gloves which were in poor condition. I only use my gloves to practice with my training manikin Bastard Bob. I would say my intensity level is usually a notch above cardio boxing since I do it primarily to burn fat and improve upper body conditioning. I usually train for 30 or 36 minutes (equivalent to 10 or 12 rounds) but no breaks. These Anthem Athletics Stormbringer 2 Gloves are pretty cute. I wanted blue but it was sold out so I opted for the 16oz 24k gold and was glad I did because they look pretty amazing. Out of the box they were pretty tight for my 8.5 inch hand. For some reason the left glove fit me much tighter than the right one. The first session with them was a bit uncomfortable as the left glove was so tight that my hand was numb. The padding was also a lot heavier than my old cheap gloves so my knuckles felt more padded than I was used to. I've always used bandages, but with these gloves I knew I would need something more. I had Everlast fingerless gel gloves that I didn't need before, so I tried putting on new gloves while wearing the gels, but it didn't happen due to their tightness. So I improvised a bit and trimmed the gel gloves down to just the knuckle pads and finger holes and it worked. They go in there with little effort and after they are fully inserted there is enough room for them and my knuckles are much happier. The left glove was still too tight, albeit around the base of the thumb, and I felt uncomfortable. So I used a yoga mat, rolled it up tight, put it in the wrist area of the glove and left it overnight to stretch it out and it helped a lot. It no longer hurts or puts my arm to sleep. I can't say anything about the durability at the moment, since they only landed 2:06:00 hits. But I'm sure the leather will last a lot longer than the faux and scrub leather on my old Everlast. So overall I think they're a good deal for what you get. But depending on how soft the padding was in your old gloves. You can put some kind of gel wrap or glove on them if you're hitting with any force. But as I said, space can be an issue. So if you have below average hands I wouldn't go with anything other than the 16 oz variant. "Lucky Strike"
