I have to say I was a bit skeptical about the accuracy of the scale for the price. When the product arrived I did some weight testing. I have a deadweight kit that I used to test for accuracy. I used "gram" for all tests. Here are some test results. Unpacked: - 1g tare = 1.0g on the scale - 200g tare = 200.1g on the scale - 1000g (1kg) tare = 1001.4 on the scale - 2000g (2kg) tare weight = 2001.6 Calibration Instructions: Press and hold MODE until CAL is displayed, then release. Press "MODE" only once. "1000" flashes. Fill in 1000 g (1 kg). When it stops blinking it is complete According to the results of the calibration. I've done some tests and always get one or the other number. I suspect that the air pressure might have a small impact on it. - 1 g net weight = 1.00 g on the scale - 1 g net weight = 0.9 g on the scale - 20 g net weight = 19.9 g on the scale - 20 g net weight = 20.0 g on the scale - 200 g tare weight = 199.9 g on the scales – 200 g tare weight = 200.0 g on the scales – 500 g tare weight = 499.9 g on the scales – 500 g tare weight = 500.0 g on the scales – 1000 g ( 1 kg) = 1000.0 g on the scale scale - 1000 g (1 kg) = 1000.0 g on the scale - 2000 g (2 kg) = 2000.1 g on the scale - 2000 g (2 kg) = 2000.1 g on the scales. This is based on my experience and opinion only and I don't expect you to agree. I think, that this scale is more than sufficient for food and dietary products. Maybe, if you rely on using it for jewelry like gold and silver, you're looking in the wrong place. But if you can invest in jewelry, you can invest in a $400 scale. Remember that the scales are calibrated at the factory. The factory may be at a different sea level than you can inhabit.
