In the past I have worked with different types of pastels. Every time I finished a piece, I always wanted something more. I thought maybe I just couldn't relate to something created with pastel, but then I discovered panpastel and realized what was missing. I paint in watercolor and my subjects are usually animals, landscapes, flowers and nature scenes. My brushwork allowed me to mix colors. My pastels used to be stick shaped and I treated them more like drawing tools than drawing tools. Pan pastels allow me to use brushes and now I see my pastels as paintings instead of drawings and that was the connection I needed.
