K, well it's functional. That being said I wouldn't call myself XL there, I think I'm pretty average not that I compare much but in my humble opinion everything feels a little tight there. Also, the top venting is a bit uncomfortable without compression shorts, for reasons I'll leave to readers' imagination. I wish there was a little more room for the axle and bearings. I only bought it because the fencing club needs it, so it won't be a big deal. As a rugby player I can confirm it would be hell to wear for contact sports like running/skating but either make it bigger or get rid of the top hole.
