BMW 5 Series (E39) Battery Discharge Problems?

I just installed a new battery and parked my car for a few days. I found that the battery was completely empty and fully charged. The next morning I wanted to start it and found that the battery was dead again. In frustration I searched "bimmerforums" and found several people having the same issue. They recommended replacing the fan motor resistor, which is a medium problem for you. The factory part costs over $100. A forum member posted this part number and recommended a part that is only $50. The member also posted photos and a step-by-step guide, which was very helpful. I would highly recommend this part as it definitely solved my battery drain issue. (I was so frustrated with this problem that I considered selling the car.) Remember that the stock part has two U-wires (parallel) built into the block so you can use a tool to pull out the stock part . Outside. I didn't realize it until I finally removed the part after 15 minutes of trying to get it out. I installed this part for almost a month and left my car parked with a dead battery for over a week with no problems. If you attempt this yourself, lie on your back on the passenger side. good for the legs. You will need to remove the side panel on the console to access the fan motor drag area. Do your homework and watch videos and pictures of the work. This saves you time in the long run. Estimated do-it-yourself repair time is 60-90 minutes. Less if you're an acrobat. No special tools are required to do the job. Much luck! Thanks amazon.com!
