For my 2003 z4 I've replaced them with originals twice in the last few years but the ball joint always rusts and falls apart over time. They have a much higher carrying capacity than stocks. Very easy to install and they also come with joint lubricant already in the flare body. After removing one grout and installing a new one, I also coated the exterior surfaces with waterproof epoxy to eliminate the possibility of rusting, which is difficult as I live near the beach. As soon as I press the trunk button, they lift the barley and push with their fingers to fully open the lid. It takes a little more force to close the trunk, but nothing, it closes smoothly.
