My car is a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 with an 8ft bed. I have a storage box that's about 24 inches wide and still has enough room for a rack with no issues. After completing the assembly, I loaded the 12ft kayak and 14ft kayak onto the rack and they don't have to worry about them moving, shifting or falling off the rack.
