These shoes are almost perfect. It fits well, offers good arch support and I liked the lugged outsole. Great style too! But he had two issues that killed him for me. First, the straps aren't positioned very well; I couldn't adjust them enough to provide enough support, especially over the arch of the foot. Second, the internal attachment points where the tongue edge is sewn to the inside of the show are hard, sharp, and protrude; in just 15 minutes they rubbed the burns on my legs. If the manufacturer just fixed those two issues, that would be GREAT.
