Drilled about 25 M6 counterbored holes in 3/4" aluminum plate, some were 6061 and some were cast tool inserts. I used WD40 as a lube and it worked great. 6061 seems a little easier to cut than cast aluminum. Maybe cast aluminum is tougher, not sure. But it worked fine with both. The M6 countersink was definitely at the limit of what my drill press could handle. I have a tiny 1/ 3 HP Grizzly 8" drill. It went through all the countersinks but got quite hot and sometimes the belt would start to slip at the bottom of the countersink. I definitely pushed it to the limit and I doubt it could do with more cuts than the aluminum M6. Overall a good tool for the price.
