Review on 22-inch Solid Pine Wooden Paddle for Sorority and Fraternity Paddles - Unfinished Lolifun Wood Paddle by Kristen Reid

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not a perfect wood, but it's not TERRIBLE.

Fine. I think it's (usually) a college thing, so I'm sure it's not a big deal to most people, but the wood wasn't "paint ready". It actually took me quite a bit of sanding and prep work to get this ready to paint for a gift from my daughter's sorority sister. Actually it was a project bear. The wood wasn't "clear" so it had rough edges (although no real knots) and needed to be filled in a couple of places before I primed it. Again, I'm sure this won't be a huge problem for most students, BUT if you're waiting until the last minute AND want a really good quality end product, or if you're a parent who's attracted you to your College kid "help" and you know a thing or two about wood projects, you must put a lot of effort into getting a nice smooth surface to work with if you choose this item. It's a good size compared to other paddles I've seen and the shape is great for champagne or other adult drink themed paddles. With power tools, time and a workshop, this can make a really cool Greek "memorabilia". Some members keep them for life, making it worth the work no matter which paddle you choose.

Pros
  • Bare Wood
Cons
  • Expensive
