Review on Dakota Alert MURS Detection Kit by Quintin Gore

Sometimes it works. Most of the time this is not the case.

My house is a nightmare of steel roofs and standing seam buildings, and the transmitter is far away down a long driveway. I wanted MURS HF devices to be able to transmit a signal over long distances. In the first year they did very well. However, over time the signal stopped coming (of course I replaced the batteries with good quality alkaline batteries). I started using the motion detection unit/transmitter closer to where I live for other tasks such as: B. the entry of animals into my pear trees. The motion detector basically works very well, but the signal reception is not very good. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the recipient makes all sorts of gibberish and squeaks. So something is wrong. If the signal is correct and the receiver is working correctly, "Alarm zone 1" should be displayed several times. As a result, this device isn't good enough to be worth the money. One piece of advice I recently learned is that the receiver is very sensitive to nearby RF interference signals. In particular, it could be 2.4GHz signals, although due to the proximity of the router/Wi-Fi I've never had reason to suspect signal problems. However, I recently added some Bluetooth AptX HD functionality in my room with a MURS receiver and when Bluetooth is active the receiver goes haywire. However, it never had this problem, or at least I _note_ it on my bluetooth keyboards. In the meantime, I have to turn off my new AptX HD Bluetooth devices (both transmitter and receiver) for the Dakota receiver to work at all.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
