Description of Dakota Alert MURS Detection Kit

Offers a license-free monitoring service - This Dakota Alert MURS BS Kit includes a MURS Alert Transmitter and M538-BS Base Station. Both employ Multi-Use Radio Service and don't need an FCC license. Helps monitor your perimeter - The MURS Alert Transmitter (MAT) has a passive infrared (PIR) sensor that detects large animals, vehicles, and people who are 30~80 feet in front of the MAT. Provides 2-way conversation - The M538-BS Base Station operates as a transceiver. It can receive alarm signals from any MAT and transmit the message to another MURS radio. Operates range up to 2 miles - Even if the base station is 2 miles away (open line of sight) from the MURS Alert Transmitter, it can still pick up the signal. Readily expandable - Dakota Alert doesn't limit you in how many MURS Alert Transmitters you can pair with M538-BS Base Station. You can install one MAT in the drive and 3 inside the house.

Works perfectly! - Security & Surveillance

Mine is installed on the electric gate at the entrance to my property so I get a notification if someone drives up to the remote on the gate. The distance from the transmitter to the base receiver is just over 700 feet over relatively flat terrain with lots of trees in between. I placed the base station in the middle of the house so we could hear it but it had a lot of interference so I put it in a window with more line of sight and the signal was much clearer. A major benefit for me is that…

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power

Sometimes it works. Most of the time this is not the case.

My house is a nightmare of steel roofs and standing seam buildings, and the transmitter is far away down a long driveway. I wanted MURS HF devices to be able to transmit a signal over long distances. In the first year they did very well. However, over time the signal stopped coming (of course I replaced the batteries with good quality alkaline batteries). I started using the motion detection unit/transmitter closer to where I live for other tasks such as: B. the entry of animals into my pear…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Transmitter a little gluttonous

I used ("burned") this Dakota MURS Alert around the house before installing it on our ranch gate. As a lifelong pro fan, I was a little concerned about the power consumption of the MURS and PIR transmitters. Claimed power output was over a watt, which is actually quite a lot on battery power, especially if you have a lot of sensor activations. So I tested it in my electronics lab. Test parameters: Power supply 9V (constant voltage) from Rigol DP832 programmable power supply. Current measured…

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
