The only saving grace with this lock was kwikset customer service. That's great! I bought this item from Amazon because it was almost $20 cheaper than Lowe's. I understand why after it arrived. He was defective. It blocked, but also caused an error message every time. The key kept blinking red and didn't light up at night when I needed to see the keyboard. I had to use my cell phone for the light. I called kwikset and they put me through a very long 20 minute troubleshooting process for the device only to find that the device was defective. They sent me another one and walked me through the installation step by step. I paid for a professional installation of a faulty unit so needless to say it was a waste of money. I don't know if this dealer who works through Amazon sells cheaper devices because they are defective or refurbished? I can not say. But I was very disappointed to lose the $$ attitude. If I knew that I would install the device myself, I would just give my money to someone who needs it. The end result was the same.
