The original worked for years. We bought 3 more because the original kept getting lost. I also bought them 3 silicone cases in different colors so that everyone has their own (and they are responsible for their own remote control). After 1-1/2 months one of the new consoles started sending INPUT commands repeatedly. There were no visible physical injuries. I disassembled the remote, removed the INPUT membrane button, but it still sent the INPUT command. I didn't find any jumpers or damage on the board. It was about as far as I was willing to take for a $7 remote.
