Review on Altec Lansing MZX1003-BLK Whisper Active Noise Cancelling Headphones – Black by Naoka Garcia

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Probable first estimate

I just received these headphones and am making a preliminary rating based on my first listen. I don't know if it's a recent model, but I couldn't register it for warranty protection because its model number isn't listed on the online store or the warranty website. Likewise, I can't access the full manual or view specs. Therefore, I cannot compare and contrast the statements with my personal observations. These are full-size, full-coverage phones that have built-in automatic ANC noise cancellation to reduce background noise when listening. to the desired program material. This feature can be enabled or disabled as desired. It seems to work - at least there is a difference in the sound when I turn it on. Because the sound isolation is quite effective from just the headphones, I don't hear much noise from the training fan or fridge, regardless of the position of the ANC switch. The ear cushions are soft and comfortable but fit snugly, which is important for sound isolation. It remains to be seen whether they will also feel comfortable during long listening sessions. Wearing headphones for a long time can often lead to fatigue. The frequency response seems fairly smooth, at least to my 69-year-old ears, which have been abused by loud guitar playing for years. For that reason I don't claim to be an audiophile and I think they sound good for listening to rock music. More discerning professional ears might disagree, but I think the average listener will be satisfied. Since I didn't have access to the specs, I can't tell what Bluetooth version I'm using, nor can I tell if they support aptX Low Latency. Technology. I could surmise that having used it with a video source and observed the audio/video sync, but I only listen to music on my Echo Dot. Bluetooth range seems very good as I'm upstairs in another part of my house where the Echo Dot is located and the audio stream is continuous and strong with good stereo separation and no electrical noise or interference. The ad claims up to 14 hours of listening time, which is very impressive and a bit hard to believe! I have a couple of inexpensive Bluetooth headphones that don't last more than a few hours at best, and I don't listen to them on high battery drain. If it takes me about 14 hours before I need to recharge, I'll be both surprised and delighted. So far I like them but I'm giving no stars because my experience with them is limited and I was disappointed not to be able to register them for the warranty or learn more about the specs. I monitor reviews and change them as my opinion changes and I will make sure to note anything that will lead me to praise or criticize this product in the future.
