The Extech (big screen home model) takes about half an hour to stabilize on (false) readings when moved out of the room. in the room. This device takes about 30 seconds to stabilize while reading. As you move from room to room, the readings literally start changing in a second or two after entering a different room! ! ! It's SO delicate! For example, if you enter the bathroom after someone has taken a shower there, the numbers go up the moment you enter that room! And after about 30 seconds they pretty much stabilize at the new value unless the temperature changes. It will take longer (about 5 minutes) if there is a difference in room temperature. Overall great for home use. I don't know if it's enough for professional use.
