Review on Genuine Ford 8U5Z 9C268 B Fuel Filler by Brian Rogel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great value insurance and protection

I've rented a few cars over the last few years and found that many didn't have a gas cap. They had a new stylish capless version with a print on the top. I suspect this was done to prevent fumes from escaping into the atmosphere as it's supposed to seal better than a standard cap. None of the cars I have owned come with this mount. That was until I bought a used 2014 Ford F-150. I'll admit that this makes filling up at the station easier and faster, but if you're filling up from a jerrycan at home, it's a bit more of a problem. You have to slide those two things back to allow the seal to fall off so the nozzle goes down the sink. My biggest concern is also water getting into the tank. This makes it easy for intruders to pour water or other contaminants into the tank. Not sure if gas can be pumped out further down the neck due to restrictions, but that's an added concern. Enter this little thing. It's fairly simple in design and is simpler than a standard locking cap. There is only one way it fits and it is very easy to block. Yes it's just a deterrent like any other lock but it gives me more peace of mind. I'm not sure why the vehicle manufacturers don't include it, but Ford must have seen some value in it because it's part of the Ford brand. The only downside is that you have to carry a different key with you and remember it when you travel. Parts will likely be needed as well. In the end, its pros outweigh its cons and I recommend it.
