Warning, not lockable

This tank cap is not lockable. I tried both keys and the locking mechanism never worked. I attempted to return this item within 30 days but had to get seller permission to do so. When the seller got permission I was given a label that I had to pay for the return postage.

Read how to use it.

Good. That works great. There are 2 keys on the lid. As long as the lid is off. Put it in the closed position. Then screw it tight. Like most gas caps, it will click if it goes past the closed position. With this lid, that click also disabled the mechanism inside that allows the lid to rotate freely so you can't open it. Insert the key, turn it clockwise and this mechanism will lock again, allowing you to remove it.

Worth it for security, bad key cover.

Very bad design, I've already bought a similar product for the car and they seem to have the same problem, the key cover doesn't want to move, in winter it's terrible to open the fuel cap. I wouldn't buy it again if I didn't have to. It's better to fix this than have someone climb into my tank. I think it would be pretty easy to get in anyways, I think I've seen a few videos of people using flat heads to get in but better with one than without.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • boring packaging

There were several articles in the newspapers that cars in the city ran out of gas in the middle of the night. I decided to go with a lockable gas cap and took a chance. I am satisfied with the product, will become a regular customer and can only recommend it. The only slight downside is that it's a bit difficult to figure out how to insert the key, as the hole is a silver rectangle with a spring-loaded flap - and it's not easy to tell which way the notched key should be pointing. I just put a…

Awkward, but it works! - Gas cap

Very awkward to lock and unlock. The sliding flap only slides sideways, you need to point the small cymbal key to the slot. Otherwise my tank will become blocked and difficult to open without damaging it. Works like a one-way ratchet, it only tightens, but when loosened it spins freely until the key is inserted and turned. If you lose your key, don't worry if you want to damage the device by sticking a screw or something in it. This will block it and allow it to open. Apart from the standard…

Works well and the price is reasonable.

I bought this cap for my Nissan Frontier Truck after the OEM lid tether broke and I decided I wanted to secure the cap as I don't have a latch on the fuel filler door. If this cap also had a lanyard or some other way to secure it when filling the tank it would be even better, but if I leave my keys in the cap when I fill up I don't forget it when I leave. UPDATE after a few years of use: The keyhole is a little "uncomfortable" so I sometimes have trouble inserting the key. However, it never…

Not for Chrysler 300

This article will appear if you are looking for a Chrysler 300 gas cap. I have a 2007 car and even checked before ordering and made sure this item would fit. Everything came to check. That's it, the product is in your hand. The product does not fit in my car because it is too big for a coupe. I finally managed to put it on and the lid won't close, the latch doesn't do anything. The key and drum are cheaply made and this is a poor key mechanism. The cap turns off on everything, overall it's…

Poor design, not easy and unreliable locking mechanism

Original product received and it wouldn't close. The returned product works but I still find the locking mechanism difficult to use at best. I used to have a locking cap and the key easily turned 180 degrees and it was locked. Just as easy to unlock. Not this locking mechanism. The key cannot be turned in any direction and clearly locks the lid. You have to play with it. The key turns clockwise about 90 degrees. The key cannot be removed, but must be returned to the middle position. clogged…

Is working. does what it says

I bought a Stant 10508 gas cap for a 20005 Jeep Liberty. The cover comes with two keys. Easy installation. When the key is inserted and rotated 90 degrees, you can twist the cap to remove. It's best not to have a long or heavy bunch of keys, as the weight of the keys will turn the key in the cap, and unless the key is turned a full 90 degrees (when turning the cap), the cap will not turn. turn off and exit. Using a single key or a small key chain would make things easier. If you try to remove…
