I used them to fix rusty transmission lines on my pickup truck. Tired of constant leaks (and repairing the transmission after it was completely dry while riding), I replaced 90% of my steel hoses with quality rubber hoses. A NOTICE. If you cut a length of steel cable and connect it to a hose, widen the end of the steel to keep the hose from slipping, which can happen with even the best clamps. And only use a hose that is approved for hydraulic fluid. I've read that these clamps hold better than regular clamps and don't come loose. My only concern is that the bolt/screw fits into a very thin square nut. Because they are thin, there are very few threads to attach the screw. I haven't had any leaks, but from my experience as a mechanic and lifelong repairer of various 'things', a thicker nut with more threads would offer better insurance against future failures. When fully open they are 5/8 inch tall. No more shares. My hose is 5/8 OD and it was difficult to tighten. No complaint, just a note.
