I've had this drain valve for a year now and thank goodness it hasn't leaked yet. When the valve was installed there was very little leakage initially, but this was due to the valve not being tightened enough. After installing the valve, be sure to rev the engine to several thousand RPM, hold it there for 10 seconds and check for leaks. Then you should take a test drive and then look around the area again. You should be very thorough when testing because the nightmare of it will be when you are on your daily commute and the car engine starts to overheat. That would be a BAD day
