The 'seal seal', a specially printed elastomeric ring around the ports, is only on the side of the manifold. What what!? Yes, indeed we were. The back of these pads is coated with some sort of waxy substance, eliminating the need to use silicone (because it's non-sticky). Additionally, if used on really smooth aluminum heads, there can be a problem with water leakage as the wax has a hard time sticking to very smooth surfaces. I can't find any MLS gaskets otherwise I would use them, I'll try again and then go back to graphite gaskets.
