Review on 🎡 Pyle Phono Turntable Preamp - Mini Electronic Audio Stereo Phonograph Preamplifier with 9V Battery Compartment, Separate DC 12V Power Adapter, RCA Input, RCA Output & Low Noise Operation (PP555) - BLACK by Lance Levatte

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice little (literally) phono stage.

Works right out of the box. Connecting a Grado XF3E cartridge to a Lepai 2020ti amplifier. I tested the unit's frequency response (see attached chart) and found it to be a little lacking in both low and high frequencies compared to the RIAA accent-cancellation spec, but that's not bad for the price (12, $98 as "Warehouse Special") It's very quiet - I power it with a 2020ti "Wall Wart" 12V switching power supply via a "Y" coaxial power divider - powered by a 9V battery, nothing changed. Its design smoothes out bass below 20Hz to provide some 'rumble' filtering; my previous low frequency preamp (Velleman 2573) didn't, and the hum from the turntable (the solid Rega Planar 3 base) was quite noticeable. I like it, in combination with the Lepai amplifier it gives a great sound. and the hum from the turntable (the solid base of the Rega Planar 3) was quite noticeable. Pros
  • PHONO CONVERTER: A turntable preamp that converts phono signals to line-level signals. This state-of-the-art phono stage can drive magnetic pickups with an input sensitivity of 3 mV at 50 kΞ©.
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
