I used to use a lot of SLRs and compact digital cameras. The Sony A-200K is by far the best I've ever used. I just haven't found anything this camera can't do, which is amazing considering the tiny flash. Whether indoors or outdoors, images are consistently sharp and well-lit. (Letting the camera make the decisions has worked well so far; I haven't had to do any manual adjustments.) The 18-70mm lens is light, amazingly sharp and at 100mm almost perfect for commuting and city travel. The integrated image stabilization (Super Steady Shot) and the self-cleaning sensor are features not found on comparable Nikon or Canon models. One of the main advantages of this camera is its backwards compatibility with film lenses and Minolta Maxxum flashes. This means lenses can be purchased inexpensively on Craigslist or elsewhere - to rate a lens for your needs, simply multiply its focal length by 1.5. I haven't tried my very sophisticated Maxxum 5400xi flash with this camera, but Sony says it will work. Dollar for dollar there isn't a better entry-level DSLR on the market today. I am delighted with this camera.
