I didn't realize that this perch had such a bark that you can easily chew it off. My bird is chewing on the bark and it makes a big mess and the bark is scattered all over. I think I should have guessed from the picture, but it seems to me that the perch maker knows better than to use wood with such bark. In addition, the perch is very strong and robust. If your bird isn't chewing, this is probably a great perch for you. Now that my bird has successfully gnawed all of the bark off the perch leaving nothing to sweep, we are happy with that.
