Review on 💾 WAVLINK USB C 3.0 Dual Bay SATA I/II/III External Hard Drive Docking Station - 6TB Capacity for 2.5 Inch/3.5 Inch HDD/SSD with UASP Support, Offline Clone, and File Backup Options by Joshua Garris

Summary: Previously purchased Orico USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 Dock. Also as an expansion card LTERIVER USB-C 3.1 Gen 2, PCI-E (2 ports). I will run two tests: 1) Seagate 6TB HDD and 2) SEKC 120GB SSD via Icy Dock 2.5-3.5 adapter housing in ORICO and WAVLINK. Speed test app: ATTO Benchmark. Observations: First I tested Orico with two discs. The Seagate 6TB was slow, averaging 180MB/s read/white (R/W) in Orico. I then entered the SEKC into the Orico via media, resulting in the following result: 540/520 (R/W), advertised drive speed. I switched to WAVLINK, first with SEKC, which had 425MB/s R/W, in the source bay (back) and the same in the destination bay (front); Therefore, WAVLINK is slower than ORICO with SEKC SSD. I also tried 6TB and it ran at 180/170MB/s R/W (in the original bay) so about the same. As a result, WAVLINK reached a maximum speed of 425MB/s while ORICO reached almost the maximum speed of SEKC SSD, so something in WAVLINK reduces the performance. Pros: Good fit and finish; The cable has aluminum ends (promotes heat dissipation). Cons: Slower transfer rate than a comparable docking station. Verdict: At $30 (currently $18 on sale) 4-star rating due to lower performance than ORICO. Use ORICO when you need more performance and WAVLINK when you need to clone disks (without using a computer).
