Installed in sunroof. Just hold it where you want and place the bar in it so you can see how the bar will point. I didn't do this and set it up with the pole pointing over the water. I decided it was best to look straight up. So I re-drilled and re-installed. I covered the holes with transparent silicone and the base covered my mistake. Used a dremel with a grinder to extend my hole after drilling with a hole saw (think 1 3/4 inch), bought stainless steel bolts/washers/nuts. But after installation I was only able to get one nut on one bolt (the rest of the bolts were tipped too close to the holder tube). I ended up using 2 screws on the other two holes. Overall looks great. My next one will be perfect. I would suggest buying extra ones to practice on your friend's boat before drilling your own.
