It's surprisingly difficult to find diamond core bits deep enough to drill 3cm of granite slabs in one pass. These beats were deep enough, cheap enough, and good enough. I drilled about 10 holes with one of these and it all worked out fine. Perhaps with its help it would be possible to make many more holes. This isn't professional level, but it will be helpful if you're a homeowner and only need it for a few projects. They sell suction cup guides for these types of bits but I don't think they work well. It's much easier to just drill a hole in a piece of wood (like 2x4) slightly larger than the bit, wedge it into what you're drilling, and use it as a guide. low RPM (level 1 on most drills), moderate pressure and lots of water. Drilling a 3 cm thick panel takes about 5-10 minutes. Take your time or you will break the record or burn the bit. Make sure there is always a puddle of water around the drill. Heat is the main thing that wears down these bits. If too hot to touch, too hot to drill. A water bottle with a small drill hole at the top is great for spraying water while drilling.
