I confess, maybe my expectations of this product were too high. I've always been very impressed with Mackie in the past, especially for the price. I've listened to a lot of very expensive speakers and studio monitors in my time, and I can say the Mackie Hr824s are the best sounding speakers I've ever heard. Meanwhile, that headphone amp sounds awful as hell. I've tried several headphones and none of them sound good with this one. The Dt770s sound even heavier than usual at higher frequencies, low-impedance headphones hiss from too much noise, and higher-impedance headphones like the Sennheiser HD650 sound like the tin earphones that came with the old iPods. Oddly enough, the best sounding headphones I've used with it are my own Mackie MC-250. They sound decent but sound better with every other amp including the headphone jack on my phone. Honestly, it costs $30 and brings all the headphones in my collection to an acceptable level. If all of this is important to you and you want to control the volume of 4 headphones at the same time, this is a really great product. It's certainly well built and feels very solid. It has uses, especially where sound quality is not a big concern, e.g. B. when recording podcasts. If you want your headphones to sound good, look elsewhere.
